God is Good

One day last summer, I sat cross legged on the grass. My hands plucked bits of grass out of the dirt as my ears intently listened to my friend as she explained to me about a place on this earth.

This place.

This place is a ranch.

This place takes in children from hard places and offers hope and healing to their wounded hearts.

This place is in Arkansas. and It's called Raising Hope Ranch.

This place also offers a year long volunteer program.

For a solid twenty minutes she explained about this place.

This place captivated my heart for I am immensely interested in this kind of work.

And in my heart I knew something was happening. God was digging a tiny hole and planting a seed in it.

Well that seed quickly started growing deeper and deeper. Taller and taller. Wider and wider.

I felt like God was calling me to go volunteer there for a year.

And I still do feel that way.

So in a week I fly to Raising Hope Ranch.

Everyone asks me if I'm scared about going.

And absolutely I am!!!

Terrified.

And enthused.

And nervous.

And weak.

And super duper stoked.

And every emotion you can think of, put it all in a Ziploc bag and shake it up and yup that's me. In other words it's a bunch of mixed emotions.

But yet at the same time I feel really calm about it.

It just feels right.

It really does.

Lately, there has been numerous verses I have stumbled upon that have inspired me.

I thought I would share them with you.

I don't know if you're needing a boost of encouragement but if you are, maybe these verses can inspire you like they did me.

So here they are...

  • My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart. Psalms 73:26

  • It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. Psalms 18:32

  • I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalms 32:8

  • Trust in Him at all times, you people: pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge. Psalms 62:8

  • For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, "do not fear, I will help you." Isaiah 41:13

Each verse is short yet packed with encouragement!!!

That last verse especially brings me so much comfort; just imagining Jesus taking hold of my hand and whispering "do not fear, I will help you!" It's really uplifting to my weak heart.

In closing, I want to emphasize God is good. I know that is a commonly used quote but it's the beautiful truth. And I'm simply so grateful I'm His daughter.

Wishing you all a courageous Sunday<3

I'm gonna miss your enthusiasm here, but they're gonna love it down in Arkansas too!
