Maybe

•Maybe Jesus is the most delighted one in the sanctuary on the day of baptism. He is standing beside the minister, making a triangle out of them three. He places His hands on top of the minister's hands as they both pray over the dear one.

•Maybe Jesus cries too when I cry. His arm resting around my shoulders. His eyes gazing into space, and His hands frequently dabs droplets of tears dripping down. Our hearts break for the same stuff. Maybe He sniffles and shakes too when He cries.

•Maybe Jesus is sitting in the empty seat of the car while friends occupy the others seats. Gossip-induced words twirl around in the air. His face is sad. He wishes we would all inspect Him instead of others. He wishes we would notice His presence. But no, we all self consumed. Jesus’ will is overlooked and underrated.

•Maybe Jesus laughs too. When someone at the supper table makes a ridiculously perfectly timed pun, Jesus turns to the angels and they chuckle. "That’s a good one!" And then one angel will add another pun. And another. I like to think of Jesus belly laughing. Imagine that kind, kind face crinkled up in uncontrollable laughter. Maybe He snorts too. Maybe He shakes too. Maybe He too keeps giggling long after the conversation has moved on.

•Maybe Jesus guides my fingers as they glide across this keyboard right now. He is directing my fingertips to the space bar, the backspace key, and each individual letter. He is slipping notes of grace and inspiration into every window, under every door, between every book page in my heart, so that everywhere, He may be noticed. Jesus is placing the words on the screen in front of me before they are even on my heart. Jesus is writing through me and I don’t even fully grasp it.

•Maybe that is why sometimes I break down in sobs only because I’m overcome by God’s pure goodness and grace. Maybe that is why when I add to my 1000 gift list, I add 5 more things than I originally planned too. And maybe that is why the other night when I saw a shooting star I knew I saw God's presence.

•Because all these ‘’maybe's’’ clearly point me to one thing - Jesus is simply, completely, radically in every single detail of our everyday lives. It's only up to us whether we notice Him or not.
